HIGHLANDS - Our Need Of Grace

Everyone loves to receive gifts. Sometimes the gift comes because of a birthday, Christmas, or another special holiday; and sometimes a gift is given “just because.” There is one common fact with every gift that is received – it is free with no strings attached. That’s what is so amazing about the greatest gift of all. It is offered to “all who will believe” and is being offered by God Himself.

The greatest gift is through Jesus Christ and here are some incredible truths about Him:

1. He Died for my sins and for yours too.

Our sin causes us to fall short of God’s crossglory and it ultimately separates us from God (Romans 3:23). So the payment for our sin has to be death (Romans 6:23a). Since Jesus died for you and me, we don’t have to worry about paying for our own sins! The gift that God is offering to us is eternal life through Jesus Christ (Romans 6:23b). That gift was Jesus dying for you and me. Romans 5:8 tells us that “God commendeth (expressed) his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

2. He was not defeated by death.

Though he shed his blood and died for our sins he was not conquered by death. Three days later just as he promised – he rose from the dead! It is because of this vital truth that we can have eternal life through a living Savior. “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” (I Corinthians 15:55), and then he said, “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen;…”(Revelation 1:18).

3. He is God, and He loves us.

Jesus said he was God and he proved it by how He lived, what He said, what He did, and how He gave. Jesus said, “I and my Father are one” (John 10:30). The most famous statement in all the Bible says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved” (John 3:16-17).

4. He desires to be your friend and Savior.

Here’s how he said it: “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life…” (John 3:36). The promise is given to all who believe “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved” Romans 10:13.

There is so much evidence that Jesus Christ is real in my life and in the life of so many others. Going to heaven is not about being good or religious. It’s about trusting in Christ alone. Call out to Him, ask Him to come into your life, save you from your sin, and give you His gift of eternal life.
